Altars & Ancestors: A Witch’s Day of the Dead Retreat

Morning Session (12–2 PM) · History & Sacred Roots

• The origins of Día de los Muertos and how to approach it with respect as a non-Mexican practitioner

• Witchcraft & ancestral veneration — exploring how witches across cultures honor their dead

• Hands-On Craft:

  • Build your own personal ancestor altar/shrine (photos, candles, flowers)

  • Face Painting Station: simple, safe calavera-inspired designs to wear remembrance proudly

  • Learn marigold lore & create paper or dried garlands

  • Dress & bless an ancestral candle

🕯️ Lunch Break — authentic dishes from Rosy’s Mexican Bar & Grill (Pozole, Tamales, and more)

Afternoon Session (3–6 PM) · Magical Craft & Ritual

• Guided ancestral meditation/journey so you may meet & speak with a benevolent ancestor

• Journaling for lineage healing & messages from the dead

• Kitchen witchery demo: blessing Pan de Muerto or simple sweet offerings

• Protection & cleansing techniques for working safely with spirit energy

• Hands-On Craft:

  • Create a small spell bundle/charm for safe ancestral connection

  • Practice candle magick for remembrance (carving names/sigils, anointing, intention-setting)

Closing Ritual (6:30–7 PM)

• Gather at the group ancestor altar & light our candles together

• Communal remembrance song that is simple, gentle, no performance pressure

• Sealing your altar and charms to bring home safely
